El Cajon Valley High School
Valhalla High School
The Lady Braves fought hard tonight for the result of a 4-0 loss versus Valhalla. After controlling game play for the majority of the match, the Lady Braves failed to finish. This resulted in many shots on goal, but no goals to show for the amount of effort which had been put in.
Coach Ramirez stated, “This was their best game of the season thus far. The score just doesn’t show how much they’ve improved over the course of the season, but the girls know how well they did and what they need to do to prepare for their game against Helix on Thursday.”
Marina Ybarra (’18) made 6 successful saves as goal keeper and kept her teammates motivated with each one. Her defenders Fanny Sarmiento (’18), Jocelyn Hernandez (’18), Eileen Villarreal (’18), and Katia Velazquez (’20) each contributed to the remaining saves against Valhalla’s 13 unsuccessful shots on goal.
Ariadna Cruz (’18) was voted as Player of the Game for improving on her dribbling, basic skills, and for her mesmerizing passes to set up her teammates for shots on goal. As a first year player, she has made great strides in mastering her position as forward.
